About Us
What is the Cooperative Party all about?
We believe that society improves when people cooperate rather than compete. That is why we are called "The Cooperative Party."
The Cooperative Party is an organization in which people agree to COOPERATE with others for the collective good of the many, not the for the isolated benefit of those who feel the need to influence other people's behavior through the coercive donation of money.
We believe that many good ideas are worth developing, so we are willing to cooperate with people from other political parties in order to help society improve and progress. If you have a good idea, we will cooperate with you.
The United States ONLY APPEARS TO BE a very divided country. The bickering between the members of the Democratic and Republican parties DOES NOT REFLECT THE ACTUAL OPINIONS OF MOST PEOPLE. Both parties are failing to represent the wishes of the common people. Instead, they are beholden to their donors (oligarchs and corporations).
As long as there are only two main political parties, they will be able to manipulate the system to their own benefit over and above the needs of the people and the nation. Without a strong third party, true reform will continue to be merely a phrase that they use in their campaigns to pretend to care enough so that they can fool the electorate for at least one more election cycle.

Party Principles:
MISSION over Money:
It is clear that money has corrupted the political process. The only way to weaken the influence that money has is to refuse to accept it. On a national and state level, the Cooperative Party will NOT accept financial donations of any kind. The Cooperative Party will function as a 100% volunteer association of people who are dedicated to working together to solve our nation's problems.
We are truly dedicated to reducing the influence that "money" currently has over politics. Many other groups make similar statements, but then they immediately ask you to make a donation. We do not ask for membership dues. NO donations of any kind will be accepted by the Cooperative Party on a national or state-wide basis.
Donations from individuals will only be accepted by the local county organizations.
We invite all donors to contact the candidates that we support and we encourage them to donate directly to the campaign being run by the candidate of their choice.
Candidates who seek the endorsement and support of the Cooperative Party must transparently document that they will NOT accept any financial support from corporations, political action committees, lobbyists or any entity other than individual human beings.

GRASSROOTS instead of National Committee:
Unlike other parties, our party structure will be STRONGER at the grassroots level. The national and statewide organizations will be subservient to the local and county organizations, and to the candidates that may seek and hold office. The national organization will listen to the grassroots and follow their lead, not the other way around. We will strive to listen to all the voices within the party and value the wishes of our rank and file party members above all else.
VOLUNTEERS instead of Staff:
The people who make up the national and state organizations of the Cooperative Party are 100% volunteers. We will pay no salaries to the "leaders" of the party except on a local or county level.

Every member will have an equal opportunity to influence the platform and behavior of the party. Party organization will (by necessity) follow the laws of each state, but in reality, our party structure and communication network will be built using a cooperative design rather than a top-down, hierarchical structure.
SUPPORT instead of Control:
We believe that candidates should be supported by the party, not controlled by them. We will never institute any form of "litmus test," nor will we ever demand that candidates sign any form of pledge that will limit the free expression of their views in any way.
PEOPLE instead of Personalities:
We do NOT want to be a party that is based around a "cult of personality." We are NOT looking to find a wealthy, well-known celebrity-type candidate to run for high office as a member of the Cooperative Party (while recognizing that we do need qualified people to seek public office in many states). Instead, we seek to build a solid foundation for a new party based upon the individual efforts of millions of real people at the grassroots level.

Representative Tulsi Gabbard is a member of the Democratic Party. She is not (yet) a member of the Cooperative Party. The above presentation is a perfect example of the concepts we support.
